100% pure Wild Salmon oil. No detectable mercury. Very low PCBs. Powerful antioxidant. High EPA and DHA.
Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon is one of the cleanest of all ocean fish species due to their pristine environment throughout their lifespan. Their feeding grounds and early habitats are located in freshwater streams and lakes in the far North of the US and Canada, where they spend the first year or so of their lives before migrating to the unpolluted Alaskan region of the North Pacific Ocean.
Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon contain more of the powerful antioxidant astaxanthin than any other species. Astaxanthin, which provides the reddish-orange color of the fish, is absorbed from the zooplankton, which is derived from microalgae consumed by the zooplankton. Astaxanthin is one of the most powerful antioxidants that protect the human body from free radicals. Free radicals are known to cause premature aging and compromise the immune system.
In population studies around the world, Omega-3 Fatty Acids, EPA and DHA (which are found primarily in fish) have consistently shown compelling results in their role of protecting against heart disease. Conversely, studies involving ALA, alpha-linolenic acid (primarily found in plant oils), have demonstrated considerably less statistically favorable conclusions. Although ALA is a precursor of DHA in adult humans, it is only converted to DHA in small amounts (1% to 9%) and does not raise DHA plasma levels.
Our salmon oil from Wild Alaskan Sockeye Salmon contains high levels of EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid), and DHA (Docosahexaenoic acid), extremely low levels of PCBs, and no detectable mercury.
This is an extremely pure product relative to similar fish oils, with the added benefits of high anti-oxidant capabilities, due to the high levels of naturally occurring astaxanthin in the fish.
